Definition of an authorised person

An authorised person has unsupervised access to the SPMMRC and into the inner controlled area (marked by the red/white tape on doors, these areas which include the 3mT line)

They have a responsibility for the safety of unauthorised persons (Red and Amber access).

To join the certified list of Authorised Personnel it will be necessary to read and understand the safety section of the website and to have completed the test and safety forms linked above. Before you complete the test, you should arrange to see Dr Andrew Peters for an initial safety talk.

[Annual Medical Assessment by registered medical practitioner may be required (MDA)].

Expiry dates for access are given at the discretion of the MR Advisor who checks and signs the forms. After the expiry date has passed, it is also up to their discretion whether to renew the access or to ask for the test to be retaken.

The only people able to sign the test are the MR Advisors. Paperwork to be returned to Lesley.

MR Centre staff and students.

You will not get a key, keycode or login until you complete this test.

Passing this test does not allow you to operate, or participate in operating, a whole body scanner. To run the scanner you must become a 'Scanner Operator'.

Nottingham collaborators, external collaborators and contractors.

Your name will remain on this list for up to 6 months. If at the end of this period you have been working in the magnet halls within the last 2 months (as shown by the 3T schedule or other scanner diaries) your status will automatically be renewed, if not you will have to take the test again.

When authorised you are eligiable to receive a key, keycode and login, but all of these are at the discretion of Andrew Peters and the Operational Committee.

External users will not get access to the magnet halls for experiments until they complete this test. You will not be given time in the schedule if your authorisation is not current (although of course you will be reminded if there is a likely to be a problem).

MR Centre staff and students will deny access to the magnet halls to people whose Authorisation is not current.

You will have to sign in each time that you enter the building in the visitors log book. You will receive a green badge, which must be worn at all times and returned to reception when you sign out.
